Aaron Rail, a specialist rail services company and part of the Aaron Engineering Group, has successfully completed essential restoration works at the GHE Stansfield access point for the TRU West Alliance Principal Contractor team.
The works involved reinstating the concrete apron at the Road Rail Access Point (RRAP) following extensive track works in the area. The project was commissioned to ensure the access point was fully restored to operational standards after recent upgrades to the infrastructure.
Aaron Rail’s scope of works included the replacement of several damaged components that had deteriorated during the previous construction phase. The team replaced a number of damaged T-sections, a bent chain deflector, and several rubber panels that had developed rips and tears through operational use.
The comprehensive restoration ensures the RRAP is now fully restored and in robust working order, providing safe and reliable access for road-rail vehicles at this critical location on the Transpennine Route Upgrade programme.
Discussing the project, Aaron Rail Operations Director Chris Sidwell said:
“The restoration of the RRAP at GHE Stansfield demonstrates Aaron Rail’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure maintenance for the TRU West Alliance. Our team worked efficiently to reinstate the concrete apron and replace damaged components, ensuring this important access point meets the required standards for safe road-rail vehicle operations.
“This project highlights our capability to support principal contractors with specialist civil engineering and maintenance works across the rail network, delivering solutions that enhance infrastructure reliability and safety.”
The Transpennine Route Upgrade is a transformative, multi-billion pound railway programme that will better connect passengers in the North between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and York, bringing more frequent, more reliable, faster, and greener trains to the region.
