Aaron Engineering Group has grown from a single division founded in garage in Hazel Grove in 1994 to become a leading multi-disciplinary engineering contractor operating across the UK’s critical infrastructure sectors.

With over 25 years of proven expertise across seven specialist divisions, we provide comprehensive design, build, and maintenance services to the Property, Rail, and High Voltage Electrical sectors. Today, with  over 200 employees working from strategically located offices nationwide, Aaron Engineering Group combines technical excellence with commercial rigour to deliver integrated solutions for both public and private sector clients.

Our Story

The Beginning

Aaron Access Founded

Our founder Nigel Eastwood left employment with Taylor-Orme Engineering to establish Aaron Engineering, starting operations from his grandfather’s car repair garage in Hazel Grove. The company began as a sole trader specialising in making, welding, and installing large residential gates.

1994

1995

First Expansion

Moving to Larger Premises

Recognising early growth potential, Nigel relocated Aaron Access to larger premises in Withington, Manchester, enabling the business to scale operations and take on more substantial projects.

Strategic Pivot

Transition from Manufacturing to Services

Chris Cunningham joined the business as Head of Sales, marking a strategic shift from manufacturing to becoming a service provider. This transformation positioned Aaron Access to focus on installation and service delivery rather than production.

During this period, Nigel’s neighbour Danny Ferguson sold his highly successful HV Design business. Their shared interests in business and entrepreneurship laid the foundation for future collaboration.

2013

New Headquarters & Rail Division Launch

Aaron Rail Founded

Aaron Access returned to Hazel Grove, establishing the company’s current headquarters at Bramhall Moor Technology Park.

Aaron Rail was formed as a joint venture between Nigel Eastwood and Danny Ferguson. Rail was initially formed to install fencing for a project in Gravesend; the company has since developed into a specialist trackside labour and minor civils contractor to the rail sector.

High Voltage Expertise

Aaron HV Systems Established

Aaron HV Systems Limited was formed by Danny Ferguson (co-owner and Director of Aaron Rail Systems at the time) to provide design, engineering, project management and installation expertise to the High Voltage sector in the UK.

2019

Service Diversification

Aaron Fire & Security and Aaron FM Launch

Aaron Access expanded its service offering by creating two new trading divisions:

  • Aaron Fire & Security – Specialist fire protection and security services
  • Aaron FM – Facilities management services

This strategic expansion recognised that the three divisions shared common engineering services and expertise, creating complementary service offerings and expanding reach to a wider number of common companies and clients.

Security Division Created

Aaron Guard Launched

Aaron Guard expanded the Group’s offering to provide accredited, SIA-licensed suicide prevention works within Network Rail and the Samaritans. Bespoke security services for projects ranging from roaming guard to remote railway locations became a core offering.

2021

Group Formation

Aaron Engineering Group Established

The three companies – Aaron Rail, Aaron Access and Aaron HV – were brought together into a formal Group structure under common ownership. Aaron Engineering became the holding company, with equal shareholding held between Nigel Eastwood and Danny Ferguson.

Aaron HV Systems (previously Levens HV Systems) was renamed as Aaron HV Systems at this point, aligning with the unified brand identity.

Major Milestones Achieved

Growth, Licensing & Infrastructure Success

From starting with Aaron Access as a sole trader in 1994, the Group achieved:

  • Annual turnover exceeding £20 million
  • Over 200 employees across all divisions
  • Aaron Rail gained their Principal Contractors’ Licence with Network Rail, enabling the company to deliver not only its own rail-controlled infrastructure works, but also to manage other suppliers and sub-contractors

Aaron Rail continues to be a key player in major UK rail infrastructure projects, while all divisions maintain their position as trusted partners to industry-leading clients.
