Aaron Rail, a specialist rail services company and part of the Aaron Engineering Group, has successfully supported principal contractor Amey with the delivery of Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) trial holes over recent weeks, providing critical underground utility information to support infrastructure design and delivery.

The trial holes programme involved excavating at strategic locations to identify and record existing underground services, ensuring that planned OLE installations can be designed to avoid clashes with existing utilities and infrastructure. This investigative work is essential for reducing risk and preventing costly delays during the construction phase.

To improve safety and access on site, Aaron Rail provided a PASMA tower at the client’s request to aid working at height activities. The mobile access tower enabled engineers to work safely and efficiently when investigating overhead line routes and capturing site data, demonstrating Aaron Rail’s commitment to providing appropriate safety measures for all site activities.

All data captured during the trial holes investigation was recorded by on-site engineers and uploaded to the Helix system for review. The Helix platform enables delivery teams to access accurate utility location data, assisting with the identification and deconfliction of potential clashes with existing services during the design development phase.

The use of digital data capture and upload systems ensures that critical information is immediately available to design teams, improving the accuracy and efficiency of the design process and reducing the risk of encountering unexpected utilities during construction.
