The Risk Identified

Network Rail identified an increased risk of suicide and trespass incidents at stations and static rail locations across the North West & Central and Eastern regions. These incidents posed a serious risk to life, caused operational disruption, and had a significant impact on staff, passengers, and train services.

A visible, trained security presence was required to deter access to the railway, identify vulnerable individuals early, and intervene safely where necessary.

Our Approach

Aaron Guard was appointed to provide SIA-licensed static guarding services at identified high-risk locations.

We deployed trained, high-visibility guards who were specifically briefed and trained in suicide awareness and prevention. Working closely with Network Rail, we developed location-specific tasking plans to ensure consistent coverage and effective intervention.

Our teams focused on early engagement, visible deterrence, and calm, professional intervention, supported by robust supervision and incident reporting.

The Outcome

  • Improved safety at known high-risk locations
  • Early interventions that prevented escalation and safeguarded life
  • Increased reassurance for passengers, staff, and the public
  • Reduced disruption through proactive presence and rapid response

The service supported Network Rail’s wider suicide prevention strategy and contributed to safer stations across two regions over a 12-month period.
